Getting there

The Pacific Motorway runs south from the Gold Coast, putting Kingscliff and the Tweed Coast roughly 20 to 30 minutes from Coolangatta and Byron Bay around an hour. There is no train, and public buses are limited, so most people drive or book a transfer. Parking in central Byron is paid and fills quickly in peak season.

Booking tip

New South Wales runs on daylight saving from October to April, an hour ahead of the Gold Coast, so adjust booking times. With a long drive home, plan a designated driver, a transfer or an overnight stay before the drinks start.
